Fraud Squad Lights Up Counterfit Cigars Another Good Reason to Shop for Your Cigars at SuperSuper Surf Liquors!
Sosua News - The government body responsible for identifying and capturing counterfeit (pirate) goods `la división de Antifalsificación y Antipiratería del Instituto del Tabaco de la República Dominicana` (INTABACO), has made a number of arrests. In Bavaro they arrested dozens of street salesmen for selling counterfeit cigars. The brands involved included Davidoff, Montega, Montecristo, La Aurora, El Contador and many others.
In total 2216 boxes of cigars were confiscated, with a street value of over 2 million pesos,. These cigars were then burned in public. INTABACO staff have also been busy in Sosúa, and are hunting down street sellers who offer counterfeit cigars for sale.
Tourists looking for good brand names are advised to shop at specialised stores in Sosúa (e.g. SuperSuper, Fat Herman`s and Cubano Cigars). You`ll pay a little more, but can be sure that you are buying quality products. Read original at Sosua News .
